Did you know that:
- 32 million Americans have life-threatening food allergies*
- 5.6 million of those are children
- Twenty-five to 30 percent of all anaphylaxis fatalities occur with no previous history of allergies+
- From 2007 to 2016 EMS diagnoses of anaphylactic food reactions rose 377%
In light of these numbers provided by FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education and the CDC, the safest way your community can be safe from anaphylaxis emergencies is to safely surround everyone epinephrine and knowledge of when and how to administer it. For those with known allergies, they might not always have their EAIs with them. Those unaware of any allergies but suddenly have an unexpected anaphylaxis emergency, the availability of non-patient-specific doses of epinephrine and someone who knows how to administer them could save their lives.
Epi Near You New York is a New York State approved emergency allergy treatment training program offered free of charge to any businesses, schools, day cares, colleges and any where people gather. After going through this training that will teach you the signs of anaphylaxis and how to stock and administer epinephrinne, you will receive what you need to aquire non patient specific prescriptions for epinephrine auto injectors. Non-profit organizations might also receive funding to purchase the injectors.
